At mates4health, we carefully select our projects based on specific criteria. When engaging in initiatives in countries of the Global South, our priority is that the need originates from a local community/project partner. There are many dedicated and highly motivated people driving change on their own initiative, and we are eager to support them - when asked. The principle of "helping people to help themselves" is at the heart of our work.
Additionally, we focus on fostering sustainable change, meaning we only fund short-term projects or one-time actions if they have a lasting impact. Transparency, openness, and mutual respect are fundamental to everything we do.

Education empowers individuals, unlocks potential and paves the way for a just, equitable and healthy society. Aligned with SDG4, we strive to provide learning opportunities to all who seek to shape their own future.
Social Justice
A just society is one where everyone has equal opportunities, rights and access to resources. We are committed to challenging systemic inequalities and advocating for fair distribution of healthcare, education and social support.

We are there when we are asked to support. We don’t assume - we listen. We don’t dictate - we collaborate. And we work towards a future where communities are empowered to develop their own sustainable solutions.
Education & Science
At mates4health, we believe that education and knowledge are the foundation for sustainbale change.
Our members come from diverse backgrounds, bringing a variety of experiences and a lot of creativity to the table. We actively engage in local and global educational projects, fostering mutual knowledge exchange and providing valuable learning opportunity. We value, welcome and support individual projects especially those with substantial personal engagement.
In addition, we participate in scientific research because we think, there are no one-size-fits-all solutions. We believe that evidence-based insights, combined with local knowledge and lived experiences, provide a solid foundation for stakeholders- whether policy makers, ministries or funders - to make informed decisions that lead to meaningful change. We therefore favor and support projects in which the people involved demonstrate strong personal commitment, take ownership, and actively work to overcome obstacles and initiate action.

At mates4health, we believe that an open and vibrant communication culture is essential for sustainable development. That is why we prioritize transparent communication and education to raise awareness of the current situation in the countries of our partner projects, as well as in other countries of the so-called Global South.
We aim to sensitize people of all ages to adopt a tolerant attitude of openness and respect for the differences that exist among individuals, cultures and nations. Through focused public relations efforts, scientific publications and events, we try to make important research findings and social discussions accessible to the broader public, so that all sides can learn from each other.
